Saffron yields have increased this year in the first few months for the first time in the previous seven to eight years, according to some data, and by about 48%, on average. According to the 2011 census, saffron cultivation is a part of about 1,60,000 families in Kashmir Valley, including 56,000 women. This indicates that saffron production benefits 1,60,000 families' livelihoods either directly or indirectly.
